A minimum waste refill service for N2, N3, N8, N10, N11, N13 & N22

How do you like to shop
Are you an Eric or an Ernie?
We want to make the reduction of single-use plastic as convenient and simple as possible, to help us all ‘do our bit’. So, you choose what works for you: home delivery, sociable shop …, or check out our weekly regular visits around North London

Eric …?
Our carbon-neutral friend, Eric, is a repurposed Royal Mail delivery bike, now delivering your online refill order, in ‘closed loop’, reusable containers, to doorsteps in N2, N3, N8, N10, N11 and N22. Use. Clean. Repeat … just like the milkman.

Or Ernie …?
For those who prefer a little sociable, Slow Shopping, book a street visit with Ernie. A lovingly restored 1972 Morrison’s electric milk float, he carries over 150 household, bathroom and pantry essentials from our online shop, ready to refill from gravity and scoop dispensers.
Where’s Ernie …?
COME AND VISIT ONE OF OUR REGULAR WEEKLY LOCATIONS
We continue to work towards making refill shopping as simple and convenient as possible and to addressing all refilling preferences, where possible.
To that end, we are building a monthly diary of regular repeat locations to plan around, alongside our fluid street visit bookings and our doorstep delivery option.

Why?
The People’s Pantry is
about working together towards reduction …
of food miles, emissions, single-use plastics, exploitation,
food waste …
and the hassle for you
The UK produces 6.6 million tonnes of household food waste per year
70% of our plastic waste is packaging
UK supermarkets currently generate 900,000 tonnes of plastic packaging per year
Every 30 seconds, 30 double decker busloads of plastic waste are burned or dumped in developing countries
Less than 10% of household plastic packaging gets recycled in the UK. Globally, the UK is second only to the US in producing the most plastic waste per person

The People’s Pantry is just us,
Thomo and Lisa: a husband and wife team who have lived in Muswell Hill for over twenty years with our four children. It brings together the disparate skills of a technology consultant and a Food & Drink PR and journalist; and is founded on a strong sense of community, a love of good food and a determination to be part of the change. We can’t hope to be zero-waste perfect, but the more of us that are working imperfectly at it, the closer it gets.

Talk to us ...
We love to hear from The People’s Pantry community. Talk to us, leave a review, tell us how we can improve the service and what you’d like to see in the shop. If it’s feasible, ethical, sustainable (and legal), we’ll do it.
